GAtHER Autumn Term Seminar & AGM: Creativity; school improvement through the arts
Governors' and teaching staff throughout Hull and East Riding
Outline of event:
Once again, GAtHER is hosting an evening for governors in education to hear about current issues in our region and what these may mean for us as governors.
This seminar will look at Enriching the Curriculum in the Arts and to present to us on this, we welcome Christina Birt. Christina is an Arts Education, Creative and Cultural Skills Consultant who has worked for over 25 years’ with schools and colleges nationally to help build creative arts into the curriculum as well as with local, national and international organisations such as the Royal Opera House.
Christina is a strong advocate of the Arts Council England’s Artsmark and works as a validator for the award. Christina is passionate about creating the best arts opportunities for children and young people and communities and dedicated to working to contribute to the evolution of the creative industries and work force.
This is a timely event as OFSTED is starting to look much more closely at the wider curriculum; our children deserve the breadth and balance that seems to have been lacking in the curriculum on offer in recent years.
Registration from 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start, coffee and biscuits will be served on arrival.
Please note that there will be a nominal charge of £5.00 per person for GAtHER members and £7.50 per person for non GAtHER members.
Governors and Teachers in Hull schools and academies are required to telephone the ILS Support Team on 01482 392020 to reserve places. Hull schools and academies will be invoiced following the event.
