Effective Engagement with Stakeholders (for governors)
Outline of event:
Effective stakeholder engagement has a large and positive impact on children’s learning. Listening to stakeholders is a fundamental element of governance, not an optional extra, but is in danger of being overlooked.
The Ofsted Inspection Handbook states that inspectors will consider:
'the leaders’ and governors’ vision and ambition for the school and how these are communicated to staff, parents and pupils’
'how well leaders and governors engage with parents and other stakeholders and agencies to support all pupils’(Section 147).
In addition to this the Leadership and Management criteria states '‘Leaders and governors have a deep, accurate understanding of the school’s effectiveness informed by the views of pupils, parents and staff. They use this to keep the school improving by focusing on the impact of their actions in key areas.’
This event will explore interventions, approaches and practices that are most effective in promoting stakeholder engagement.
Learning and Teaching Outcomes:
After completing this session, participants should be able to:
* describe why it is important to listen and respond to parents
* explain the barriers to effective stakeholder engagement
* discuss the features of interventions that are most effective in supporting stakeholder engagement and improving children’s outcomes
* identify good practice in relation to effective engagement with stakeholders
We expect that all CPD will involve integral evaluation processes
