Making Monitoring Matter - Observing lessons

Target audience:

Headteachers, senior and middle leaders

Outline of event:

This half day event focuses on the process of monitoring and evaluation. It is designed to be a practical session to reflect on why we observe lessons, what we mean by progress and recording lesson observations. A DVD of a teacher will be used to undertake a lesson observation.

Learning and Teaching Outcomes:

- To reflect on why we observe lessons
- To explore the link between effective teaching and the impact it has on learning
- To develop an understanding of what we mean by progress
- To develop skills when observing lessons and providing clear feedback

We expect that all CPD will involve integral evaluation processes

Preparation:

Schools may find it useful to bring any work scrutiny or lesson observation forms along with them
