Primary School Governors
Outline of event:
Assessment, in a range of forms, plays an essential part in school improvement by evaluating performance over time and providing a basis upon which to plan future development targets.
Governors must be aware of the statutory requirements of testing across the primary age phase as well as how data available through documents such as Inspection Dashboard and Analysing School Performance (ASP) can be used alongside the school’s own data to support and challenge the school’s leadership team effectively.

Learning and Teaching Outcomes:
After completing this session, participants will:
• Understand the requirements of statutory testing in primary education and the role of governors in ensuring that guidance is followed
• Be aware of key accountability measures and how they can be used to support school improvement
• Be able to formulate questions to use when working with the headteacher and leadership team within school
