Educational Visits - Critical Incident Planning and Management
Existing educational visits coordinators (EVCs) and head teachers or senior managers
Outline of event:
"Be wise BEFORE the event!"
Using experience gained from real-life critical incidents that have occurred during educational visits in the UK, these twilight training sessions (16.00 - 18.00) will provide an opportunity for EVC's/Headteachers/Managers to consider how their school might best respond to a serious incident during a school visit, and to share lessons learned from other schools and Local Authorities that have had to deal with these traumatic and challenging situations in recent years.
For schools/academies which have bought in to the Educational Visits and Outdoor Learning SLA the charge will be £12pp.
For schools/academies which have not bought in to the Educational Visits and Outdoor Learning SLA the charge will be £50pp.
Learning and Teaching Outcomes:
By the end of the course, participants should be aware of:
* the latest guidance and best practice regarding the planning for and management of critical incidents
* lessons learned from any recent accidents/incidents nationally
Planned outcomes for the school include:
* increased competence and confidence amongst managers and staff to lead visits safely and to deal effectively with any serious incidents should they arise
We expect that all CPD will involve integral evaluation processes
Please bring along any relevant critical incident plans and policies that already exist.
