EYFS teachers and Science subject leaders in nursery, infant and primary schools.
Outline of event:
Some quotes from delegates that previously attended this CPD
"Reaffirming we do lots of science we just don't realise"
"Gaining more confidence teaching science. Lots of practical scientific ideas to take back to the classroom."
"Very hands on with lots of ideas to interest and engage."
This full-day, interactive and practical course will explore ways in which the characteristics of effective learning can be developed through teaching scientifically. Practitioners will learn more ways to engage children in working and thinking scientifically to develop and maintain their curiosity about the world.
Playing and exploring will be used alongside creative and critical thinking skills in order to increase learning and development in a cross-curricular but scientifically-focused way. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) in the real world will also be discussed.
Learning and Teaching Outcomes:
* Gain knowledge of how to teach 'working scientifically'
* Know how to promote and 'maintain the curiosity' of children
* Know how to extend the characteristics of effective learning, particularly linked to the teaching of Understanding the World.
* Have an increased knowledge of teaching early years children scientifically, while enabling them to enter Year 1 as confident young scientists.
We expect that all CPD will involve integral evaluation processes
